Hotel Receptionist

Job type: Full-time opportunity

We are looking to recruit a professional full-time Receptionist with hotel experience to join our friendly and professional team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of hotel reception or front-of-house experience and will possess the following qualities:

Receptionist Job Purpose
As a Hotel Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our guests. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service face-to-face, over the phone, and by email. Your role will include managing guest check-ins and check-outs, making reservations, handling payments, and coordinating with other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations.

Receptionist Job Duties

  • Welcome and greet guests upon arrival

  • Answer and direct incoming calls, emails, and guest enquiries

  • Inform guests of hotel rates, facilities, and services

  • Make and confirm reservations for bedrooms and restaurant bookings

  • Ensure proper room allocation and register guests on arrival

  • Issue room keys and direct guests to their rooms

  • Confirm and update relevant guest information

  • Compute and process guest billing, accurately posting charges to accounts

  • Handle payments (cash, credit/debit cards) securely and efficiently

  • Complete and maintain incident reports, daily activity logs, and other reports requested by management

  • Liaise with other departments, keeping them updated with daily business changes

  • Inform housekeeping when rooms are vacated and ready for cleaning

  • Assist and liaise with the private dining and banqueting team for special events

  • Maintain a neat, welcoming, and organised reception area

Receptionist Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous hotel receptionist or front-of-house experience essential

  • Computer literate, preferably familiar with hotel systems such as Rezlynx or Opera

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Smart, professional outlook and business-like manner

  • Team player with a flexible attitude (early, late, weekends, and bank holiday shifts required)

Works alongside Head Chef, the Sous Chef will help to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking.   • Leads kitchen team in chef’s absence
  • Ensures that the kitchen team maintain high food hygiene standards including allergen awareness
